CFEE will be presenting two workshops at the Spring Conference of the Ontario Business Educators’ Association (OBEA) on Friday, March 22nd, 2024 (workshop times: 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. ET and 12:45 – 1:45 p.m. ET).

Below are the workshop descriptions:

A1 – BUILDING FUTURES WITH CFEE – 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. ET 
Ted van Nostrand & Kevin Maynard, CFEE

Education leaders will explore creative ways to help students learn decision-making, goal-setting, and financial-literacy skills that are key to making successful transitions to both life and work. Attendees will be introduced to our new project site that hosts unique resources with an innovative approach to applied learning that develops students’ skills crucial for future success. Students will be immersed into “real-life scenarios” through video and animation formats. The workshop will also introduce two initiatives – Money and Youth and Fin Lit 101 – which encourage youth to take control of their financial-literacy learning.

B1 – IDEAS AND TOOLS TO SUPPORT STUDENT CAREER EXPLORATION AND DECISION MAKING – 12:45 – 1:45 p.m. ET
Kevin Maynard, CFEE

Educators will learn how to assist students to make informed decisions about careers. Attendees will explore a host of free resources that look at the four steps of career decision making including resources to support each step. The
Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE) will provide an overview of online resources and a virtual toolkit and a copy of our successful Money and Youth Guide to Financial Literacy, that participating educators can use to help develop career choice consideration for their students.
