On April 14, “Talk With Our Kids About Money Day” in Canada, please join us for a webinar featuring CFEE’s President, Gary Rabbior, in discussion with Dr. Moira Somers to talk about the important correlations between financial health and mental health – a linkage that is always important to understand but especially during the pandemic and the times that will follow.
Dr. Moira Somers is a financial psychologist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She consults to families and financial advisors around the globe on matters relating to money, mental health, and well-being. She is the author of Advice that Sticks How to Give Financial Advice that People will Follow.
Parents and teachers can play a key role in starting to prepare our kids for their financial futures at a young age to be able to stay in control, manage their financial affairs effectively, and avoid the stress and anxiety that can result in mental health challenges.
Questions to explore will include:
- Is there evidence to show that there is a link between financial health (and financial stress and anxiety) and mental health and well-being?
- What advice would you give to parents in terms of things to do to help their child(ren) maintain good mental health?
- What are the financial skills that we need to develop in the 21st century?
