Talking Wishes and Wealth With Your Adult Children
December 10, 2025 – 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. ET
The Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (www.cfee.org), together with IG Wealth Management, has organized a virtual workshop designed to help adult children navigate respectful, thoughtful conversations with their aging parents about money, retirement, and future planning. Using resources from CFEE’s Let’s Talk Money: Seniors Edition, Money and You: Seniors Edition, and Seniors’ Financial Coffee Clubs programs, this session offers guidance to help families communicate with clarity and care.
During the workshop, we will:
- explore how to approach sensitive topics in a supportive and non-intrusive way
- build confidence in initiating conversations about finances, retirement plans, and daily support needs
- understand general considerations related to legal, estate, and end-of-life planning
- learn strategies to reduce conflict and maintain healthy family relationships
- recognize the importance of respecting autonomy and preserving dignity
- develop approaches for ongoing, open communication as parents’ needs evolve
This workshop provides a high-level overview of financial, legal, and planning concepts for educational purposes only. It will be presented by Kevin Maynard, Vice-President of the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education, and hosted on the Zoom videoconferencing platform.

Talking Life Changes With Your Senior Parents

The Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (www.cfee.org), together with IG Wealth Management, has organized a virtual workshop designed to help seniors feel more confident and prepared when discussing their wishes, needs, and goals with their adult children. Drawing on resources from CFEE’s Let’s Talk Money: Seniors Edition, Money and You: Seniors Edition, and Seniors’ Financial Coffee Clubs programs, this session provides practical guidance for navigating important conversations about money, retirement, and future planning.
Our goal for the workshop is to help participants:
- explore personal wishes, values, and priorities for retirement and later life
- develop confidence in communicating openly with family members
- understand general considerations around legal and estate planning
- prepare for conversations about managing finances in retirement
- clarify preferences related to health care, support needs, and end-of-life decisions
- build strategies for approaching sensitive discussions constructively

Talking Frauds and Scams
December 15, 2025 – 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET
The Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (www.cfee.org) together with IG Wealth Management, has organized a series of virtual workshops designed to help seniors develop a better understanding of financial issues relevant and important to them.
This workshop aims to provide tips, tools, and education on how older adults can learn to identify and prepare for fraud and scams.
During the workshop, we will:
- Learn about common frauds and scams targeting older adults
- Develop strategies to keep our money safe
- Recognize common signs of scams
- Understand the role we play in helping protect others from frauds and scams
- Plan ways to check the validity of an opportunity before spending money on it
- Cope with the reality that “it can happen to me”
- Learn how to stay informed in an ever-changing virtual world
