Virtual Workshop Staff and Facilitator Training - Managing Your Money for Settlement Agency Clients
1:00 - 2:00 p.m. EST
The Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (www.cfee.org) is organizing a virtual workshop around assisting Settlement and Newcomer Agency Staff (from Language and Settlement Programs) during the current COVID-19 pandemic. We understand this is a pressing issue for many, and have arranged to provide a series of FREE workshops.
This workshop has been designed to provide a tool kit that any staff person (a LINC teacher, settlement worker or employment counsellor) can use to help build language and financial literacy capabilities with their clients as they build their new life in Canada. The workshop will feature content from our Managing Your Money In Canada workshop series developed for Adult Newcomers to Canada (see https://cfee.org/program/adult-workshops-for-newcomers-to-canada/).
In this workshop, you will learn:
about the three module workshops with complete PowerPoint presentations that include presentation notes and worksheets that you can adapt and to use to assist with at-home learning during the current agency closure, and to use when things return to “normal” and your programming resumes in-person;
how to access a free online resource (https://www.mymic.ca/) around money management specifically designed for Newcomers to Canada, and built using a Life Event framework, with questions and answers relevant to your clients as they continue their journey in Canada;
about additional information and topics asked about by Newcomers, and the free resources you can use to help address these topics;
home learning as a facilitator or educator dealing with a “new environment”; and
how to use some of these new lessons as we return to a “new normal” post-Pandemic.
