This session will introduce Alberta teachers to all of the resources and programs available through the Building Futures in Alberta program. The program includes a presentation on key areas of financial knowledge, skills, and behaviours important for youth, target points for integration of instruction into Alberta school curriculum, and specific resources to assist teachers with integration.
There are many other support resources provided – including “Money and Youth: Guide to Financial Literacy for Youth”; a new online, interactive financial literacy learning program for youth – and teachers (“FinLit 101”); “Money Laughs” – humorous financial videos produced by the Just for Laughs Gags Group – including important “money tips”; a series of animations explaining how the economy works (“The Big Picture”), and two competitions for your students – “Talk With Our Kids About Money – Virtual Money Fair” with a top prize of $5,000; and “My Money, My Future Challenge” with a top prize of $10,000.
